The Gravity of Us
Phil Stamper
I found this book on an online library I've been using and it sounded good, so I decided to check it out. It's about Cal, a teen journalist from Brooklyn whose dad has applied to become an astronaut in the Orpheus V mission. His dad ends up being considered for one of the final choices and his family has to move to Texas where the other astronauts are living and where their lives are being recorded for a reality tv show. When Cal gets there, he starts to realize how the tv people aren't really there for the science, just for the drama, like when one of the astronauts is killed in a plane accident. When he reveals their real intentions, they decide to go against him and to take down NASA. In order to stop them, Cal does some interviews of his own of all the people behind the scenes at NASA, the scientists, engineers, researchers, and showing people the real science in the mission. Cal also ends up falling in love with Leon, another astronaut's son and Cal comes to realize that nothing is perfect in real life and not everything has to be fixed.
